Athens/ Volos 05-06-2009. According to the Joint Ministerial Decision signed on the 4th of June 2009, the new programme “Photovoltaics on roofs” will begin on the 1st of July 2009.
The programme provides for favourable incentives and simple procedures for the installation of up to 10 kW photovoltaic systems on residential buildings and buildings of small or very small-sized enterprises with up to 10 employees and a turnover of up to 2 million euro. More precisely the programme provides for:
- a stable feed-in tariff of 55 ct/ kWh for 25 years. This price applies to all contracts signed until 2011 and is subject to indexation. From 2012 onwards the price will be reduced for new PV systems, but it will remain stable for 25 years.
- compensation of the value of the produced energy with the cost of the energy consumed by the owner of the PV system
- simple and fast bureaucratic procedures. The PPC will be responsible for the applications and the signature of the contracts and the Agency for Urban Planning (Πολεοδομία) will issue approvals for small scale works. The whole procedure shall be completed within 70 days. There is neither an obligation for opening a book for the Internal Revenue Service nor for paying taxes for the income coming from the PV system and there is no need to acquire any license from the Regulatory Authority for Energy or from the Ministry of Development.
