Athens/ Volos 18-03-2010. The 4th Monitoring Committee of the PVs IN BLOOM program was held in Milies on 15th and 16th of March organized by the municipal development company. The transnational cooperation project entitled «Farming photovoltaic flowers; a new challenge for land valorization within a strategic eco-sustainable approach to local development (PVs IN BLOOM)» was approved under the Community Program INTELIGENT ENERGY EUROPE. The program is implemented by November 2008 and the municipal development company participates as a partner.
Coordinator partner programfor the program is the Association of Economic Chambers of Veneto (Italy) and eight partners from six different countries:

During the meeting the current situation in various regions of Europe was analyzed based on good practices from Spain, Italy and Germany. RSEnergy Hellas Solartechnik EPE participated being represented by Mr. Gerovasilis, Managing Director, who presented potovoltaic projects successfully implemented in various regions of Greece. The company RSEnergy in collaboration with the Municipal Development Organization of Milies will proceed to investigate photovoltaic power plants of 1 MWp for electricity generation in deprived areas of the city of Milies. The project will in the operational phase produce enough energy to meet the energy needs of the city Milies for the next 20 years.
The program PVs IN BLOOM, which promotes the establishment of small and medium-scale solar panels in rural and urban areas, seeks to increase knowledge and acceptance of photovoltaic, both from public and private sector.
The main objective of the program is to promote policies and strategies to support the production of solar energy in abandoned - deprived areas of local authorities. The promotion of appropriate policies will contribute both to protect the environment and the creation of innovative new investment. .
Apostolos Arethas, president of the Municipal Development Organization and mayor of Milies "Environmental protection and use of alternative energy a priority for the City Milies and should be a priority for all local authorities in our region. Through this program we're able to take action, as local authorities.
